This is a cocktail we did for our ‘Taste of Vermont’ week at the end of last season.  It has a nice blend of tart, sweet and spicy, and based on the response it got, we figured it would be a great one to add for this summer…


2 oz. Silver Tequila

Maple Syrup

San Pellegrino Sparkling Grapefruit



Spicy Peppers (Claudia grew some surprisingly spicy ones last summer.  Vermont and spicy peppers…who’da thought?)


Puree a spicy pepper with maple syrup and a squeeze of lime juice

Fill tall glass with ice.  Add tequila and a tablespoon of your pepper-maple-lime mix (more if you like it extra spicy).

Top with the Sparkling Grapefruit (you can also use another of the sweetened types like Jarritos or Squirt if needed.)

Stir gently.

Garnish with a grapefruit slice.
